Wife, Mother, Step Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Dog Mom, Keeper of Grand Dogs, etc…. As a mother/stepmother to four sons and mother-in-love (this is what we say) to four pretty spectacular daughters-in-law, and now grandmother to eight of the most adorable babies on the planet – I know stuff.
Granted, most of what I know has been learned the hard way, but it’s still knowledge – and I should share it. And… hopefully, I can spare you from having to learn it the hard way. Consider this our own little digital “Share and Spare” space for information about deals and discounts, tried and true product reviews, an occasional recipe, and some empathetic conversation sprinkled with a little sarcasm, a little humor and a lot of love.
In 17 months we went from zero to five grandchildren. All four daughters (in-law) were pregnant at the same time so I had to take a crash course in “grandmommin”. Some of it came pretty natural but believe me when I say you absolutely can forget how to ride a bike.
If you’ve ever been to Carowinds, you can visualize this analogy. There is a line that separates the two Carolina states. You literally can stand with one foot in South Carolina and one foot in North Carolina. That’s how it feels being a grandmother today. Many of us are still straddling life. One foot planted in our careers and one foot just stepping into new roles as grandparents. Not quite ready (or able) to give up our professional life but very much wanting to embrace the joys of grandparenthood. Just so you know, that work/life balance thing carries over to the next generation.
This is where I plan to share my wisdom – and hope you’ll share yours. No need to bookmark me – I can deliver these life hacks and life smacks right to your inbox.
Until we meet again. Go forth and be GRAND!
